New addition to the home gym

Well it has been a busy few weeks for me. Between work and my boys baseball games and practices I haven’t had a whole lot of time to get in to Lazarus for WOD’s.
I have however managed to be signed up to run in the Spartan Race in Calgary on August 18, Compete in a BJJ tournament, study and prep for a mobility seminar, training for my blue belt grading in jujitsu. So I have been keeping active.

I attempted to learn Astanga yoga. That was a painful experience, but I am implementing it into my daily routine. I managed to get some time on the mats rolling some jujitsu with a friend helping him prep for a upcoming competition. I had so much fun I decided to compete as well. All my technique is coming back no problem, just have to get the old cardio back up there. Should be fun.

I have a new addition to my home CrossFit box. I recently picked up a Concept 2 rower from Fitness Town(Not a big surprise, I buy everything there). I broke it in with a nice round 5000m. I kept a pretty steady pace and finished the last 1000m in a full sprint. Definitely got the heart rate jumping. I have set a goal to complete minimum 10km a day on the rower.

I will keep the blog updated with my progress and when I hit the 100000m mark.

Judo….

Well I’m trying to get caught up as I have been slacking on my posting. I competed in another judo tournament on April 16, 2011. It was the Saskatchewan provincial tournament in Swift current, I finished with a silver in the masters over 90kg division and a bronze in the senior over 90kg division.

I managed to make it three for three for injuries as I had a broken finger from the Watrous tourney and a broken toe in Edmonton. Now I had some major tissue damage and a possible fracture on my shin and ankle. Had to wear a cast for three weeks. I also found out that my finger is still broken and may require surgery to repair it properly as it won’t heal on it’s own. Good thing judo is done for the season. Hopefully everything will be healed for the jujitsu grading & tournament in July.

Been Awhile

Well I haven’t posted in awhile. I’ve been pretty busy with work. I competed in the Edmonton international judo tournament and did pretty well, ending up with two fourth place finishes and a broken toe.

Senshudokan Tournament 19-Feb-2011

Watrous Judo Tournament

The Year So Far

Well I’ve been lazy updating this blog but I have been exercising. I’ve had Judo & Jujitsu classes two to three times a week and then daily work outs in between. I’ve competed in three Judo tournaments so far, placing in all three. At the Sask Open in Regina I won two silver medals, at the Watrous tournament I won another silver and in Regina again at th Senshudokan tournament I received a bronze medal. I broke a finger in two places in the last tournament so it has slowed me down a bit in my training but not a lot. The next tournament will be on April 1st at the Edmonton International, then a Jujitsu camp and grappling tournament in July. In addition to the Karate, Judo and Shindo-Ryu Jujitsu I have been training in, I am starting to train in brazilian jiu jitsu.

Judo – Ju Jitsu Randori

Steve and I after class sparring(Randori) Nov 28, 2010. I land a nice counter throw at the 2:27 mark, but end up submitted at least three times. Still need to work on my ground game.
